Housed in a bluestone setting in the heart of the Avesnois bocage, MusVerre presents one of Europe?s most important collections of contemporary glass art. With over 1,000 m² of exhibition space, the tour takes visitors on a rhythmic journey from local glassmaking skills to international contemporary works.
Brimming with fantasy and color, the "bousillés", created by Sars-Poteries glassmakers between 1801 and 1937, take visitors back to the region's industrial past. They stand alongside a prestigious contemporary collection of works by artists from around the world, exploring all the properties of the material glass.
The workshop adjacent to the museum is unique in Europe: its state-of-the-art equipment enables all glass techniques to be worked. In this creative hub, workshops and artist residencies are organized throughout the year. These contribute to enriching the MusVerre collection, which also vibrates to the rhythm of its temporary exhibitions and the many events associated with them.
For cyclists, the establishment has been awarded the "Accueil Vélo" label (Accueil Vélo® is a national label guaranteeing a high quality welcome and services along cycle routes for touring cyclists).
Open Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Opening hours subject to change on December 24 and 31). Closed on Mondays, January 1, May 1 and December 25.
